Kestrin Pantera is a writer/director the New York Times called “a force.” Her last film, PRETTY PROBLEMS, won the SXSW Audience Award and she was awarded Bay Area Filmmaker of the Year. PRETTY PROBLEMS sold to IFC Films and released theatrically in 30 cities nationwide. It was the top searched new release the month of its Hulu streaming debut.
DEADLINE called PRETTY PROBLEMS, “Laugh out loud comedy,” “A party you want to go to, to live vicariously, laugh a lot, and then be glad to go home to your own life” and “A tremendous amount of fun.”

Before directing, Kestrin was a classically trained cellist-turned-rocker who toured in bands. In 2023 she began performing in David Wain and Ken Marino's "Middle Aged Dad Band," with Weird Al Yankovic. She's appeared alongside Weezer, Beck and Brandi Carlile and her original music has been featured in TV shows and award winning films.
Prior to LA, she lived in Taipei, Taiwan, where she became fluent in Mandarin.
